Christian Formation Ministries, Tanzania Dear friends in Christ! Praise the Lord! I am so very pleased to take this chance to update you all about Christian Formation Ministries in Tanzania, especially the visit of the International Director and the founder of this Ministry, Lay Canon Carolyn Criswell Fouse, to Tanzania in February. Our beloved servant of God Canon Cris Fouse visited Diocese of Kiteto, Tanzania on 23rd to 28th February 2010. We thank you God because her visit was so blessed to the people of Tanzania, especially the people she met in the Diocese of Kiteto. When Canon Cris Fouse arrived to Tanzania on 23/2/2010 at 6:15 a.m, she traveled at the same day directly to Kiteto, and in Morogoro she joined the Bishop of Ruvuma, Rt. Rev Bishop Martenus Kapinga, and traveled together to Kiteto. On 24th Feb. 2010 Canon Cris Fouse conducted a seminar for the Pastor’s wives and Mother union leaders of the Diocese of Kiteto. And more than 70 pastor’s wives and Mother Union leaders attended to this seminar. The participants were so blessed with the teachings from Cris Fouse. The lessons that Cris Fouse taught in this seminar were: Man’s condition, the Church, Jesus, Salvation history, the fullness of Time, Abram’s walk and The Holy Spirit. The teachings were so very helpful to the participants because they had a time to learn and understand about these teachings. The Participants expressed themselves the importance of Christian Formation course in their Christian life and in the Church in general. The participants learned a lot from Cris Fouse, especially the teaching methodology that Cris used to teach them. These women were so very encouraged to see a woman (Cris Fouse) taught them and they had promised to go and teach others. So, in this seminar the Pastor’s wives and Mother Union leaders have been empowered by Cris Fouse, therefore are able now to bring the teachings to others. In this seminar, the Bishop of Kiteto, Rt. Rev. Isaiah Chambala, was the guest of honour and he was the one who opened the seminar. The Bishop of Kiteto explained the importance of this ministry and encouraged the participants to use that time to learn and bring the teachings to other people in their Parishes. Bishop Chambala expressed that, because in our Churches the number of women is bigger than men; so if the women will understand the teachings they will be able to reach many people. Also the Bishop of Ruvuma, Rt. Rev. Martenus Kapinga, attended this seminar. Bishop Kapinga explained the importance of preaching the gospel to all nations as Jesus commanded his disciples. Therefore he emphasized the importance of Christian Formation Ministries as a tool that help us as Christians to respond in the great commission of Jesus to make the people of all nations to be disciples of Jesus and teach them. Also Revd Vithalis Yusuph, the CFM coordinator of Kagera Diocese attended this seminar. He explained his joy for attending the seminar and also he brought to us the greetings from his Bishop. Also we had Canon Revd Joseph Gegela, the CFM coordinator of Shinyanga Diocese, also he was so very happy to attend the seminar and it was his first time to come to Kiteto. On 25 to 28 February we had a time to visit various Churches in the Diocese of Kiteto. The places we visited are Ngababa (Ndorobo place), Olprikata (Maasai place), Nalang’tomoni and Matui. In all these places, the people were so very happy to meet the visitors, especially Canon Cris Fouse who came from very far away. When we were in Ngababa (Ndorobo area), these people were so very encouraged to meet with the visitors. They have been expressed themselves for saying, “We are so very encouraged to see other people visiting us, even people from America. Indeed we are happy to see this woman from United States came to visit us.” On 26 Feb.2010 Cris Fouse had a meeting with the CFM coordinators from Diocese of Kagera and Shinyanga (Revd Vithalis Yusuph and Revd Canon Joseph Gegela). In this meeting Cris Fouse had a time to hear the reports of CFM from these Dioceses. The reports were so very encouraged. What we have learned in these reports are: The people are so eager with this Ministry. I am so very pleased to take this chance to thanks these Coordinators for their big Job they have done. These coordinators worked so hard, to make sure that their people in their Diocese learn the word of God through Christian Formation Ministries. I am also so very pleased to thank their Bishops for supporting these coordinators and their work. On Sunday 28th February, 2010. Canon Cris Fouse worshipped at St. John Parish in Matui and she preached there. Her preaching was so wonderful; people were so blessed with her sermon. In this deanery we received a good report from the Ruraldean concerning the progress of the Christian Formation Ministries. Dear friends, I wanted to update you concerning Christian Formation Ministries in Tanzania, especially the visit of Cris Fouse in Tanzania, so you can pray for this ministry. We thank you God because this Ministry now is working now in four Dioceses here in Tanzania (Diocese of Kiteto, Diocese of Ruvuma, Diocese of Shinyanga and Diocese of Kagera). We have been invited with various Dioceses here in Tanzania, and we pray that God will be given us ability to reach them. To conclude with: I would like to thank you so much, Canon Cris Fouse for working so hard for this Ministry, I thank you her for visiting us here in Tanzania. In her visit to Kiteto she has been worked so very hard and she did not even get a one day to rest. We pray that God will strengthen her and give her power from her tiring. We thank you so much for your heart and your committed heart for teaching the faith to the people of God. Christian Formation Ministries is so helpful to our people here in Tanzania. I also want to thank, Bishop Kapinga, Bishop Chambala, Bishop Ngusa and Bishop Kijanjali, for their cooperation with us in this Ministry.
